Plan Sample

The construction documents produced by Kelly Design are drafted towards facilitating the construction process. Kelly’s extensive background in construction has given him a unique insight on how work is done on a job site with the utilization of plan prints.

Carpenters tend to rely on their accumulated skills as years pass, and are inclined not to refer to notes placed on separate pages. I not saying this is right, just that it occurs; hence, if the information is deemed important, it is placed where it will be read. Scaling and dimensioning are also important. All exterior elevations are done to ¼” scale and all walls are dimensioned twice.

Clutter can lead to confusion, so more information is spread out to other pages to improve clarity, for example, separate wiring and heating plans, roof and floor structure plans, instead of the prior information being placed on the floor plan page. Cross sections are taken at what is deemed the most difficult area to build, to aid the understanding of what is expected. Details are relevant to the design, not just copy and pasted for filler. Skewed 3D models are used to show finishes that are otherwise hidden in traditional elevation drawings.
